Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape

The Eastern Cape is known for its glorious Sunshine Coast, which stretches from Tsitsikamma National Park to East London. Bursting with adventure as one of the world’s top surfing spots, part of its charm is the variety of rivers, lakes and lagoons, sub-tropical forests and countless quaint seaside hamlets just waiting to be explored.

Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth, known as the “Friendly Eco City”, is a major sea port and tourist destination set along the beautiful shores of Algoa Bay.

Port Elizabeth’s greatest treasures are the clean beaches and warm water, making it an ideal water sport centre. The combination of calm waters and fair breezes are perfect conditions for sailing. The safe beaches allow for swimming, surfing, body boarding or any water sport.

Scuba diving enthusiasts can choose from a number of great spots to dive to, such as shipwrecks and coral reefs. Up to 30 metres visibility allows you to view shoals of beautifully coloured fish while enjoying the warm waters.

Attractions in the region:

Sunshine Coast attractions are plentiful: pristine sub-tropical forests of Tsitsikamma and its numerous eco-trails and hikes, luxury bush destinations and the magnificent 500 kilometre stretch of beach that hugs the warm Indian Ocean, complete with sheltered coves, rock pools and lagoons.

The coastal route incorporates the quaint resorts of Kenton-on-Sea, Port Alfred, Cape St. Francis and St. Francis Bay, all of which exude a typical seaside ambience.

The Sunshine Coast also features the water-sport hotspot of Jeffrey’s Bay, which is considered the ‘home of the perfect wave’ and one of the best surfing spots in the world.

This amazing coast also has its share of nature reserves, including the renowned Addo Elephant National Park and the Shamwari and Kariega Game Reserves, all of which offer authentic wildlife experiences in malaria-free settings.
