Limpopo’s cultural heritage includes Mapungubwe, a World Heritage Site where royal burial sites and numerous artefacts have been unearthed. They testify to the existence of a wealthy African kingdom between the years 1020 and 1290.

The Ndebele are one of Limpopo’s most colourful peoples. A dominant Limpopo culture is that of the Venda people, which is steeped in myth and legend.
